Freedom to be you

Inspiration, Life · December 11, 2017

How can you be free to be you if you don’t know who you are?

If you don’t know who you are how can you build the life you want?

I distinctly remember the moment I recalled looking back and remembering how carefree, happy and confident I was and how that had changed so much. I wanted to get back to that place but didn’t know where to begin.

People often market that you can “build the life you want” and others jump on that train with the focus on acquiring external goods or relationships in the hopes that one will find happiness. I was one of those consumers once upon a time.

Not knowing yourself is like being stuck in a tornado trying to control the direction your moving in. Instead you are swept away and controlled by disempowering thoughts and emotions influenced by believes and values of others aswell as defence mechanisms you’ve acquired along the way.

How to get back to you?

STOP ?

ENQUIRE
What do you really want for yourself? (Not what you think you SHOULD want for yourself)

What do you like?

What makes you happy?….. etc

Start interviewing and getting to know you again.

Then….

BE AUTHENTIC!

It’s natural for us to be inauthentic. Not to share our deepest thoughts and feelings.

We worry about what people would think of us.

We worry about the repercussions that may exist as a consequence of being vulnerable.

Being inauthentic is like wearing a straight jacket. The more we hide or are dishonest about the more we create the pressure to live into that lie.

In being honest about what we are or have been up to, we free ourselves to choose a new way of being. That is where freedom exists.

In that freedom we create an expanded space in which to experience life with a greater capacity to forgive, love, to be grateful, to be present and therefore fulfilled.

Your greatest investment is in investing time and resources in yourself as you are the foundation to everything else.

Wishing you a blessed week.

Lots of love ?
