If you own your story you can write the ending

Inspiration, Life, Personal Development · December 30, 2017

Your story doesn’t have to define you but it can contribute to the greatness you become.

I’m often told that I’m strong and have gotten through so much.

There’s something about that statement that makes me feel uncomfortable. It’s kind of like the person saying it is putting me on a pedestal.

I know for a fact that I’m no stronger than anyone else. In fact I’m exactly the same. I have the same limiting beliefs and the same fears.

The difference may be that I am certain that I am not my thoughts.

Things happen, that’s life. My thoughts have opinions on the things that are happening.

Most of the time those thoughts do not serve me and are not in anyway soothing.

Sometimes I engage with them. I relate to them as true. When I do, they start dancing with my emotions.

Like petrol to fire they begin to grow. Then caught in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts and negative emotions I can slip into a low.

Then when I get a brief break. The little moment I become present, where no thoughts and emotions exist.

I remember

I am not my thoughts.

I focus on that stillness and expand it as long as I can. Like water to the fire my thoughts and emotions begin to settle.

In the stillness I see life as it is. Just a series of things happening.

Then I make decisions and take actions.

With the actions my life situations become transformed.

I learn something new about the situation and myself.

My courage increases, my self belief heightens, my sense of certainty renewed.

Then life happens again but this time I catch the fire before it grows and put it out.

I may loose myself again and engage with my thoughts as they are true but when that gap comes and stillness is present, I’ll remember I am not my thoughts and rest in the assurance that everything is always ok.

Love always ?
