Why are we always looking for a quick fix?
From get rich quick schemes, weight loss miracle tablets to personal development programmes that will “change your life in a weekend”, we are constantly seeking the short cut to happiness and people are making a whole load of money from selling the dream. I hate to break it to you but it doesn’t exist.
In the era of quick gratification, we are all seeking that quickie that would make anything and everything better. Now don’t get me wrong, I am a true believer in the law of attraction, that if you set an intention and become sure and affirmed in what you want, you can attract it quickly (quickly is relevant to the person you are speaking to) when taking action, but that requires a lot of internal work to achieve on an ongoing basis.
As humans, we need to feel we are constantly growing in one way shape or form and when we are not, we loose motivation and start to feel low. So I wonder, does anyone ever stop and wonder what it would be like to have it all right now? The perfect family, the ultimate financial circumstance……nothing to aspire to, nothing to gain. What would you do then? What would be the point of living?
Are you even built to have everything now? Do you have the mindset to cope with immense wealth? Are you committed to doing the work that is required to keep the weight you’ve lost off?
The list goes on…….
It’s not a secret that nearly all lottery winners who come from impoverished circumstances loose their winnings within a matter of years. Some interviewed explained that it was more hassle to have money than not and they preferred their humble lifestyle. This is not a coincidence. There are steps we have to take between where we are and where we want to be. Those steps and experiences help shape us into the people we need to become in order to have what we want and keep it!
Even the most successful people are still evolving, still learning. Whether its expanding themselves further or creating foundations to contribute to the world….they don’t stop.
Think about how fun and exciting it is when you achieve a goal, you forget about all the work and pain it took you to get to the result right? Imagine if by being present, that journey is just as fun as the result! We are so focused on what we don’t have that we loose appreciation for what we do!
Now remember a goal you achieved that brought you happiness. What happened when you got there? You set a bigger goal right? It’s human nature, there is no finish line apart from death so if you want to live a life worth living you have to accept that it is a journey and be willing to take it. The more you accept what is, the less resistance you will have in working towards what you want. Miracles start from the inside out so the only way to truly experience fulfillment is by working on you and being happy now. Everything else is a bonus.
So is there such thing as a quick fix? In some areas you can absolutely achieve instant results but as we’ve explored we have a tendency to create a new goal to achieve. The knowledge that everything we need and want exists in being grateful for now reduces frustration, fear and anxiety. In the present moment we are in a more powerful position to take actions that shapes the kind of future we want to live into.
Be present, be grateful, choose to be the best you NOW.
Love,
Linda
